Before entering college, I choreographed two solo works, both en pointe,
under Jean D'Urbano at her School of Ballet Arts in Concord, MA:
Night (2003)
Watermark (2002)
Since coming to the Valley, my work has expanded to incorporate a variety of dance styles, exploring interactions between dancers and the space, and has grown to incorporate film projection with live performance. I have since taken all three levels of choreography at Mount Holyoke College under Professor (and advisor) Jim Coleman,
and have choreographed the following during my time in the Valley:
Synchronic (2009)
A fim incorporating video projection and dance. Winner of the 2009 Five College Film Festival, in which it was also awarded Best Dance on Camera, and Best of Mount Holyoke. Viewable here: VIEW FILMS
Discernable by Touch (2009)
An integration of live performance and film projection, this piece was an off-shoot work created to explore the woman depicted in Synchronic. This piece also served as a link between my opening installation piece Without Pause and the viewing of Synchronic when presented as a trio in the Senior Concert "In The Still," featuring works by myself, Kim Allen, and Kaitlin McCarthy (View her site).
Kerala (2007)
A contemporary work set to the music of Peter Gabriel for seven dancers. An interlacing of gliding twirls and twists, reminiscent of the ebb and flo I experienced while studying art and culture in
Southern India. |
